On a night where Rangers continued their fine SPL run under Gio, Ibrox Noise rates the players who earned us a solid 2-0 win.

McGregor:

Barely with a save to make, McGregor had a quiet one between the sticks, with just one canny clearance to make after another route one ball evaded everyone. 6

Tavernier:

Decent blend of attacking and defending saw the RB swing in 13 crosses, 3 of which hit their target, while in a defensive sense he got stuck right in and did good work. An all-round solid performance from the captain. 7

Goldson:

Got an assist for Morelos, even if it might not have been intentional, and looked untroubled in the middle as Saints failed to register much serious attacking at all. 7

Bassey:

Strong in the air was young Bassey, winning a lot up there, and otherwise had a clean night with barely a foot put wrong. Again, like Goldson, not overly pushed, but tidy. 7

Barisic:

Some clinically accurate passing as the Croat works on regaining his form, with a superb 96%, but then most of it was in his own half. Offensively he only tried two crosses, but both of them were good. He can be happy with his solid night. 7

Kamara:

More advanced than his deep role v Hearts, and used the ball. A fine display in central and attacking midfield saw Kamara show a different side to his game, demonstrating his versatility. We saw this v Lyon. He’s a top player when he puts in the effort. 8

Arfield:

Energetic as always from the Livi-born mid, getting forward as much as he could and causing trouble in the press. Gave away a few fouls but always grafting. 7

Kent:

Will be happy to have scored and this was a productive evening from the winger, with a plethora of shots. Managed a fair few mazy dribbles and was always a threat. A good display till taken off. 8

Aribo:

Not as scintillating as he has been but still very good. Plays with no fear, loses the ball, tries again, and just has an air of absolute confidence right now. Caused a lot of problems tonight. 8

Hagi:

Continues to impress with bright attacking and hard work pressing, the Romanian is in decent form and improving greatly as a starter under Gio. 8

Morelos:

Caused no end of problems and deserved his goal. Composure could have been better to lob Clark for another one, but still, a good shift and much more like the complete striker he’s capable of being. 8

Subs:

Patterson:

Tidy, did good work in his limited time on the pitch. 6

Sakala:

Had 20 minutes to make his mark and wasn’t really able to. Did get a shot in but that was about it. 5

Manager:

Gio van Bronckhorst took Salaka out of the equation, well aware his pace was useless v a dug-in Saints, and intelligently used Hagi instead, hoping he’d be more considered. And while the team did huff and puff v a stubborn defence, the system allowed persistence to pay off. The team kept to Gio’s plan and it worked. Even against a low block. Gio will be thrilled a bread and butter match like this was a good win in the end. 8
