Aribo could STAY at Ibrox despite press attempts to sell

The DR are at it again, hawking more Rangers players off, trying desperately to sell our best assets.

Today’s turn is Joe Aribo, who despite the rag admitting is happy at Ibrox (he is), that doesn’t stop the red top clutching at his old coach who claims Aribo will jump at the chance to move to England.

See, as much as we all want to assume the playmaker is just ready for his chance to shine in the big league, well, it’s worth remembering Aston Villa offered him £20,000 a week in 2019 to make his debut in the PL at the age of 22 and he turned them down.

That’s right, Aribo turned Villa down two years ago, opting instead for Rangers, who offered the same wage.

He went for Rangers believing Steven Gerrard would make him a better player than Villa could, so for Aribo it’s not all about money, or even the league.

For Aribo, it’s about being happy.

Those who know him will be aware he is firmly religious, and believes very much in being happy and having faith. And the concession from his ex-coach that he’s absolutely happy at Ibrox is about as much as you need from Joe Aribo to know what he wants to do.

Will he one day play in the PL?

Possibly. If he feels the time is right and he is no longer happy enough at Rangers. That may never happen.

He is clearly capable, but equally, Joe Aribo has a glorious chance to test himself in the Champions League next season, assuming we secure 56, and has a manager now who is getting more out of him than Gerrard even did.

So it’s no guarantee Aribo will leave.

As we told you before, reports from Nigeria claiming contract chat had broken down have not been verified by our sources, so we do not believe that to be true.

And it might just be Joe wants to hang around in Govan a bit longer.

We sure hope so.

  1. If he leaves it can’t be this window he’s too important and is needed. Don’t anyone underestimate how important champions league money is for our club to progress.
