Rangers could be fighting off a lot of teams for star performer Joe Aribo this January after a host of clubs were linked with the in-form Nigeria star.

The attacking midfielder, 25, has taken his impressive game up a notch this season and is widely-regarded as Rangers’ best current player by performances this term, with his absolutely ridiculous goal at Livi noted significantly.

As a result, Brentford, Galatasaray, Watford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are among those said to be interested in securing him for the second half of the season.

Thankfully, Rangers have Aribo on a deal till 2023 so the club will certainly expect top dollar should any side make a bid, and while the Turkey giants Gala bid £6M in the last window, his value has certainly tripled since then to close to £20M.

But whether any side is willing to invest that much in the January window is another matter.

Aribo is one Giovanni van Bronckhorst will not want to lose at all, the Nigeria star is a big part of the system the manager deploys at Ibrox, effectively building it around him, and so the club sees Aribo as integral.

But as we said earlier, if we do want to invest in new players, we’ll have to sell someone at some point.

It could be Aribo.

But we’d rather it wasn’t.
