Something not many fans know about impending Rangers manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is that his managerial career at Feyenoord actually created history by becoming only the second side in Eredivisie history to top the table in Holland from start to finish.

For those who doubt his managerial credentials, and there are a few, GVB’s Feyenoord career was historic, and during his time there as boss he won every domestic trophy there was to win, including the big one.

And significantly, that title ended an 18-year wait for a league triumph at the De Kuip making double history in one fell swoop.

So if there’s managerial quality to quote, there you have it. Experienced, young, determined, one of us, and more than capable of creating history.

In truth, GVB would be the most pain-free transition – his managerial career has actually echoed our ex-manager’s a touch – took his first management job at a fairly young age, and plays a similar system, and if we’re honest, his Feyenoord reign ran a little out of steam in the end.

He does, however, have 4 years of being assistant in Rotterdam as well as the four of being the boss so he’s extremely experienced with 8 years of doing this and he knows how it works.

He also spent almost half a year with the City group learning from Pep Guardiola, so this is a smart man who has really gone through the right routes to learn his trade.

Rangers could do worse, Rangers could do a lot lot worse.
