LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 04: Danilho Doekhi of Vitesse takes down Harry Kane of Tottenham which resulted in him being sent off during the UEFA Europa Conference League group G match between Tottenham Hotspur and Vitesse at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 04, 2021 in London, England. Ibrox scouts last night watched Vitesse’s Danilho Doekhi at Spurs in Rangers’ latest drive to add the Dutch defender to the Govan roster.

The 23-year old stopper starred in the defeat to Antonio Conte’s new side, but his stats will make for some interesting reading on the evening.

He managed one tackle, won 3 of 7 duels, and made a clearance. We can maybe try to overlook the red card….

Of course, this was not a great night for players to be judged – Spurs were pumped up for their new coach, but we will direct you to this quote on the Dutch star from earlier this year when Newcastle (and ourselves) were heavily linked:

“Doekhi is an excellent defender. His positioning is pretty good, he tackles with strength, confidence, and purpose, and his awareness allows him to make some crucial interceptions. He’s averaging 4.8 tackles & Interceptions per 90, which are very decent for a centre-back this stat also shows how aggressive a presser he is, and the high line his team maintains on the pitch.

Danilho looks confident when going forward to support attacking moves, which is for taken with him being nurtured in Ajax’s play-it-from-the-back style. This season he’s averaging 55 passes per game at an 85% success rate also he’s lobbing in with 2.4 accurate long-balls per game these numbers show his decent ball-playing ability.”

Doekhi is a player, even if Vitesse and he weren’t at their best last night, and we doubt the away display will have put Rangers off.

This one is very much a goer.
