“XXX has let Steven Gerrard down.”
This is all we’ve been seeing from a site who shall not be named, and who only last night finally produced something more positive about Ryan Kent.
This site, in the past half week, and we’re not plugging its name, sorry, has been saying on a near-daily basis the latest player that ‘sucks’ – that was rotten.
First one we noticed was Scotty Arfield, despite having an excellent match v Motherwell, then it was Joe Aribo’s turn to get it in the neck, then yesterday it was Steven Davis.
Now, we admit the latter, Davis, has been poor this season, and only really had a good one v Graham Alexander’s side.
But to use that wording of ‘letting the manager down’ is a really uncalled for reference to players who might have had a lesser match or two in recent times.
We just don’t like it.
Yes, Kamara, Davis, Morelos and a few others have not been at their best, but that phrasing is really provocative, and that site has used it more than once, as if these players are behaving in an immoral manner when all they’re trying to do is win a football match or two.
As we say, the site in question relented with a more positive take on Ryan Kent, but all the digs at our players is unneeded.
If we wanted that rubbish we’d go to a Celtic site.
