History is made as Morelos makes headlines across Europe

Alfredo Morelos created history last night as he became the fifth-top scorer in Europa League history just behind his idol Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian, who found a brand new lease of form and life under new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, arguably had his best performance in the shirt this calendar year as he nailed a magnificent brace, and came close to a hat trick as well.

As a result, he finds himself on 28 UEL goals (including qualifying) just 12 behind Barcelona and Feyenoord legend Henrik Larsson who sits on top with 40.

With the form Morelos is currently in, who’d bet against him adding more before this season’s competition is over.

It all added to a fantastic start for Gio as boss, and with the old Morelos suddenly back and scoring again, who knows what else this season holds.

The others in the UEFA list include Klaas Jan Huntelaar and fellow fifth place scorer Dieter Muller.

Quite the collection.

  1. Morelos was excellent last night . He was hungry , on the front foot and accurate. I hope he pushes on and finally gets to the level we have all believed to be there.
