GVB – the most popular Rangers manager since Sir Walter?
An exceptionally popular appointment (Credit Rangers FC)

If one thing has stood out, aside a few bizarre trolls here and there, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the most unifying Rangers manager since Walter’s return.

We can rarely remember an appointment, aside the Gaffer in January 2007, that has been this completely universally popular with just a few bizarre doubters reckoning it’s a mistake.

Of course, they are entitled to their opinions, of course they are, but we can’t help wondering what the evidence for this being a bad appointment is.

But for about 99% of the support, this is the man we needed and wanted, and it’s rare to see the support this harmonious given the ultimately deeply divisive managers we’ve had for the best part of 10 years.

No appointment, especially not the Scouser, was received universally so well, with nothing but doubts about every new man who took the hotseat at Ibrox. In most cases, with good reason. And ultimately, all of these guys ended up splitting the support down the middle. In different ways, yes, or indeed some were universally unpopular, but we see such little animosity about GVB and it’s deeply refreshing.

Of course, the proof will be in the pudding, but Gio has the backing of at least 99% of our fanbase who are convinced he’s the right man.

The popular man.

A Rangers man, with more than enough talent about him to do a great job.

And that’s why we all wanted him.
