GVB drops hint on captaincy topic and Tavernier’s future
We're glad glad he was the one unveiled that day....

GVB has dropped a possible hint about the captaincy and play style by declaring present incumbent James Tavernier as the captain and that his first discussions with the RB were positive.

It’s been a topic of much chagrin to a large portion of supporters who would like to see another man wearing the armband, but Gio could only state the present situation rather than his future intentions.

He said:

“He’s the captain. I think he is an important player, an important member of the squad so I think the relationship between captain and coach always has to be a good one, not only with him but also with the squad. He is very influential, not just as a captain, but with the way Rangers play.”

Gio is keeping his captain intentions close to his chest here. He is only stating how things are now, and of course he can’t come out and criticise Tavernier’s captaincy because he’s not actually familiar with it yet.

Will he want his own man wearing the armband?

Time will tell.
