Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is to launch a 3-man January blitz on Rangers after it emerged the new boss at Villa Park wants to sign Glen Kamara, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo.

The trio are worth an estimated £30M-£50M combined, and such a mass swoop would certainly seal Rangers’ financial issues with a deficit of £18M (recently improved from £23M thanks to the compensation for Gerrard) but we doubt fans would be happy to lose Aribo and Kent in particular.

Feeling about Kamara is a lot less fussed, with supporters simply keen to secure a good fee for him, but Kent and Aribo would be big blows indeed.

Kent, as we’ve explained, is happy at Ibrox, but has to commute south to see his partner, so he would be comfortable with an exit as it would make his circumstances easier, but he remains happy in Govan.

Aribo, however, might be quite open to a move to Villa, feeling he is now ready for that step up when the Villans competed with Rangers in 2019 for his signature but he chose Ibrox and Gerrard. Now that Gerrard is in England, and Aribo has proven himself, he might consider this the right time.

Either way, all three are heavily vulnerable now, and cash-rich Villa will certainly be attempting to plunder Rangers in January.

Especially given their new manager.

  1. While selling all 3 might solve our financial issues overnight you could kiss goodbye to 56 and £40m Champions League money. Even losing Kent alone would give us a big problem.

  2. all 3 would be a blow but no one is irreplaceable like Gerrard himself better replacements can be found we reinvest and move forward… I’d be happier to hold onto Kent and aribo until the end of the season tho if we can and keep them happy
