Gerrard replacement at Ibrox would be a big hit with fans

Ibrox Noise sources claim former Rangers star Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is already in line to replace seemingly outgoing Steven Gerrard as the current boss prepares to take the reins at Villa Park.

Gerrard’s future has been a hot topic today, but information has reached us that Rangers have granted permission for Villa chiefs to talk to the boss, as Ibrox Noise suggested would be the case earlier.

And it appears Ross Wilson and co are not hanging around and are all ready with GVB on hand as a replacement should the Liverpool legend make the switch to Birmingham after all.

Some reports claim Derek McInnes as an interim manager but we cannot see that happening.

We can, however, see Gio coming home, in a role that would undeniably dent the loss of Gerrard’s exit enough that we could probably argue quite a lot of fans would actually prefer the Dutchman to the current boss anyway.

Gio knows the league, the club, is one of us in the first place, and while it doesn’t diminish what SG gave us over 3 and a half years, it’s good to know that his potential replacement, if all these dominoes fall in place, is one fans would generally be very happy with.

This is very much a dynamic breaking story, and it may change and evolve as time moves on.

We continue to watch and wait.
