Steven Gerrard has delivered a potentially massive boost by confirming all of Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic, and hugely, Ryan Jack could be back fit inside the next few games.

The manager has desperately missed Kent’s running and trickery on the left, while Barisic’s crossing has also been sadly absent. But it’s Jack’s imminent return ‘before the international break’ (yes another one) which will get Rangers fans most excited given how long the midfielder has been out.

Jack’s absence has contributed hugely to a massive breakdown of the defence’s reliability this calendar year, but with that dating back to February, just how much of his old self will we see back?

Either way, his imminent return is deeply welcome and we have hope it’s not another 7-10 days effort.

As for Barisic, yes, his form hasn’t been sparkling this year, but we know at his best what he’s capable of and he’s comfortably, at his finest, the best LB in Scotland and one of the best in Britain. So hopefully when he’s back fit he’ll rekindle some of that form.

And Kent is another who’s made lacked a bit of his traditional sharpness and spark, but the downgrade in going to Scott Wright has become apparent, and while the latter is an honest trier he’s not in the same league as Kent. So Ryan’s return is very welcome indeed.

It’s good news, because we need all our players as we go into this difficult period.
