Steven Gerrard has been a man and taken full responsibility for last night’s disappointing result and performance.

While the players clearly didn’t deliver on a night where more points were conceded, Gerrard took his share of the blame too for the way the football seems to be going.

He said:

“When we regain the ball we play with possession and style and tonight we forgot what we’re about and what we do and I need to fix that. Against any team, at this level, it’s always going to be tough going 2-0 down but we’ve managed to take something from the game but the performance isn’t good enough and that’s on me.”

In fairness, it’s a team game, including the manager. The players aren’t delivering and the manager’s system isn’t working any more.

We win and lose as a team, and that doesn’t change.

But clearly the boss isn’t hiding behind his players – he didn’t blame any individuals like he maybe used to – he’s simply calling out the team for not performing and stating it’s his fault.

We of course posited some theories of our own as to the lacking displays, but whether Gerrard is right or wrong, he’s being a man about it.

Now if the players could be men on the pitch that would be handy.

  1. It is time for SG to go, l thank him for delivering 55 and he should walk away when he still has an ounce of credibility, the league and Europe has been a fucking disaster this season and there is one man to blame and it is SG, keeps on playing the same duds week in week out when a blind man can fucking see where its going wrong

  2. Spot on JT on every point.Gerrard for me is being found out, I remember his initial interview and his. comments re wanting players who will leave everything on the pitch!!and to play fast aggressive football, not witnessing either. Gerrard made a rod for his own back by appointing Tavernier as captain, as long as my backside points downwards he will never be fit enough to be the captain of Glasgow Rangers, everybody can have a bad game for example Richard Gough but he still stood out as the captain poor or bad performance. As for Connor Goldson it is high time this bang average player was told you either sign or you will be sold, another example of Gerrard,Rod,Back!! In closing,Gerrard has to get away from the sexy phrases during interviews and focus on getting his message across to the players wearing jersey! to use one of his phrases,” it is time for his team walk the walk rather than talk the talk”
