Rangers have today confirmed Alfredo Morelos is the latest big name to be offered a new contract, after the 25-year old admitted a few days ago he wants to stay.

After years of hype over his future, the striker said for the first time he sees himself remaining here for years, in a shock turnabout over his usual policy of telling us he wants to leave.

And Rangers apparently have a major offer for him on the table, with Steven Gerrard confirming there’s something there.

Rangers supporters shouldn’t get too excited though, the manager urged some notes of caution, which we will cover later, but for now, this new contract is a surprise.

Morelos is signed till 2023 so getting into the latter stages of his deal, and a new contract would likely be for an extra season or two – we’re not quite sure the implications of what this means, especially given Gerrard’s comments about Morelos, but nevertheless is Alfie set to commit to yet another long-term deal?

We will find out very soon.
