It is of course early days (look what a couple of months settling in did for John Lundstram) but the signs for Juninho Bacuna haven’t been too promising so far.

The £5m (yes really) rated midfielder was signed from Championship Huddersfield and simply hasn’t got close to looking the part yet, struggling to get to grips with the team at the moment.

He hasn’t really featured, truth be told, his involvement limited to cameos mostly plus that surprise start in Prague which couldn’t really go much worse than it did, so the jury is deeply out on his potential.

The 24-year old has a fine CV in truth, an international for Curaçao and a fine spell in Holland not to mention a decent one too for Huddersfield, but he’s not quite hit the ground running with Rangers.

And that’s ok – as we know, different players settle at different rates – Lundstram took a couple of months, and Barisic took 15 of them.

So there’s plenty of time for the deep-lying playmaker to settle and make his mark.

In reality, there’s a good reason the guy has around a 100 appearances in Holland – you don’t do that if you can’t play a bit, and he’s a former Holland youth international as well.

But as Lundstram knows, you don’t get much time before you’re a ‘donkey’, and a lot of humble pie is needed sometimes from fans when a player proves their credibility.

Hopefully Rangers fans will give Bacuna that little bit of headroom to settle in before he too is labelled a failure.

  1. His awareness is just not sharp as it could be when collecting the ball last game but when put in front of him he done OK needs a few more games to see if he’s gonna fit in to this team
