Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has sidestepped transfer talk much in the same way as Nathan Patterson by stressing he’s paying no interest to anything ‘outside’ football and is only focused on himself, his country, and his club.

The Nigerian international, whose side lost to Central Africa following a Leon Balogun gaffe, was speaking before the next one, and explained he’s not interested in the transfer talk, and will just get on with getting on.

Aribo, who had a few clubs on his tail in the summer including a modest £6M bid from Galatasaray which was rejected, has been in mostly good form this season, and has affirmed himself as an absolute first choice under Steven Gerrard, with 106 appearances since 2019 when he signed.

His stats, in truth, aren’t magical, just 19 goals and 17 assists for an AM maybe could be a bit better, but he’s an integral part of how we play under this manager and he’s been solid this season.

Which is why clubs are looking at him.

But he’s not one likely to leave – he’s still got two years left on his current deal and he’s one the club may look at to extend.

But the player himself is just focused on playing football and what else will just be.

And you can’t say fairer than that.
