“Completely outstanding – 10” Rangers rated after Motherwell Molication

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers delivered the performance of the season in a resounding statement over 56.

Destroying Motherwell 1-6 at their own patch, Gerrard finally broke Graham Alexander’s resistance to the Famous, and Ibrox Noise brings you our ratings for the best SPL display of the season by a country mile.

McGregor:

We’ll be honest, he could have done better with Mugabi’s goal, the follow up getting through space that shouldn’t have been there. McGregor normally makes himself big, but just didn’t here. Other than that didn’t have much to do. 6

Tavernier:

After the abuse we took for daring to defend him lately, he delivered another brilliant show of attacking, assisting, and a wonder volley on top. Sorry, we’ve been critics, but we always call out excellent displays when we see them, and Tav IS responding to the Patterson threat. He was superb today. We’ll forgive his small part over the Well goal because he saved another sure one as well. 9

Goldson:

A shambolic piece of lazy tracking for the Well goal, just didn’t care and left it to Tav to clean up – looks passionless and uninterested and had few clearances to speak of. 6

Balogun:

A stronger match as usual from the Nigerian compared with Goldson, Leon cleared a lot, tackled a lot, and very little came down his side. 7

Bassey:

Did a man’s job with crossing and regularly provided width. Is a more defensive LB than Barisic but his distribution was good. 7

Kamara:

Quiet match but more effective than he has been, he too benefited from Arfield, and he showed some good touches in the opposition half while nailing a beautiful goal. He’ll be happy with this. 8

Davis:

An absolute leap over recent displays – no coincidence Arfield was there. Davis looked far more comfortable with his old mate, and ran the show. 8

Arfield:

His energy was obvious, and boy did it change just about everything. Despite the early setback, Arfield’s sheer presence lifted the boys around him and things just clicked way better. How many Bears are still going to doubt this player’s importance to the Famous? 8

Aribo:

Lots of creativity, dribbling, and pass and go saw the Nigerian looking dangerous and threatening. A bright show from him and he’s definitely returning to form. Lovely. 8

Morelos:

In honesty, he could have been better. Lost the ball a lot, wasn’t effective in the air, and on a day we scored 6, he didn’t get a single one. He’s just not close to form. But he wasn’t rotten. 6

Sakala:

Well, what can we say about the hat-trick hero? Everything about his display was gusto, energy and drive, and while his contribution up to his first goal was a little patchy, that confidence from seeing the net ripple changed his game. After that, completely outstanding. 10

Subs:

Roofe:

Ever seen a player more depressed at scoring?! 6

Wright:

Added a little spark. 6

Simpson: shrug

Manager:

Steven Gerrard did it. He made changes. Big changes. The system was tweaked to allow Arfield’s presence to be maximised, and mostly everyone benefited from this. The heads didn’t go down from the goal, and he’ll be thrilled at seeing so many players delivering. He won’t want to drop Scotty now, that’s for sure. 8

  1. Goldson wants 45k it is reported ?? That is a fucking joke, and l have ripped into Lundstram week in week out and I’m big enough and ugly enough to say l spectacularly got that one wrong as l expect new players to hit the ground running and impatient, l also have ripped into Fashion Jnr too and looks like l got egg on my face once again and l hope Fashion keeps this up every week, this showing today should have been for Sir Walter against the sheep but finally glad we have found form the day and as you say, what a difference with Scotty in the team the day, give him the captains armband now

  2. Excellent today , we played in behind instead of all in front. Steve D was superb along with Arfield experience personified. Sakala came alive and was really fabulous. Tav eventually got his eye in and scored a Worldie. Total domination after a shaky start.Onwards 56.

  3. great to see so many changes to the starting 11 and after the goal against came what a team appeared. great to watch. Wright added a big blue spark by way, loves to take on the opposition. Great day on Tav s birthday too !! Gaun the Gers

  4. Time and time again I have said about concentration and yet again the back four asleep I blame Tavernier for the Motherwell goal but also Goldson for not following Mugabi to let him slip the ball under McGregor, I really do feel as though Greegsy has now had his day.

A brilliant servant and a top class goalkeeper who now sadly should go into a coaching role at the club.

Steve Davis masterclass faultless his quick thinking brain 2 steps ahead of everyone else on the park.

Aribo superb strong as an ox on and off the ball made things happen terrorised the well back four all day long.

Kamara again superb goal and rewarded for his unselfish hard work.

Salaka fantastic running never gave up took his hatrick superbly well and deserved all 3 goals.

Morelos looks as though he has piled on the pounds did not close down enough never made an impact I would like to see Stevie G unleash the young 19 year old playing in the B Team
Allegria he is some prospect let him train with the first team now rave reviews coming from the B- Team management about this young lad.

Lastly outstanding performance from the Gers today there will not be many teams going to Motherwell and taking 6 goals of them that’s for sure so all in all an Inch Perfect Performance from the Gers today that’s more like it let’s win the title for Walter.

Would like to see the Gers management team go out and buy Benjamin Siegrist from Dundee Utd spend £1.5 million on this goalkeeper and he will win us the league and at the same time
He will win us the league and £45,000,000 going into champions league, and also the Motherwell lad Mugabi what a player and performance from him today.

    These are only my opinions.

  5. Someone had to get a good gubbing it was Motherwells misfortune it was their turn .
Now the Gaffer looking at getting team back to full strength .
    Things looking positive once again

  6. Hallelujah! At last a performance worthy of Champions. I was a bit frustrated first half when we were 10-2 in shots but down 1-0. I thought we were playing well enough but had nothing to show for it. Second half we were clinical and we turned it round and 6-1 was a fair reflection of the day. Maybe we can launch our season here.
