We’re not going to go into too much depth in this piece, with more considered analysis to following in the coming hours, but we’re absolutely delighted by how Rangers today turned round an absolutely horrific first half display to grind out with proper grit and determination what ended up being a well-deserved win against a very hardy St Johnstone.

Watching that stale, turgid and depressing first half was quite the task, but the second half was all the kind of energy and guts we need from our side, even if not every player was sparkling.

These are the matches you have to win, simple as that – the bread and butter matches where the side doesn’t smoothly ascend through its gears, and has to resort instead to rolling the sleeves up and getting the hands dirty.

We will have more, much more on this over the next 24 or so, but while this wasn’t vintage, it was proper.

More like that second half Rangers.

  1. If Tav started the game as well as he ended it he would have been my man of the match. Inspirational second half from the captain, blocking two certain goals and scoring a cracker.

  2. Proper Champions performance. Failed to get through the gears but beat the next best team in Scotland in the end. These type of results in games have made me no longer fear when we lose a goal. Cast back a few years and that could have derailed a season.

    • At 0-0 we showed no sign of ever scoring so at 0-1 I did have the fear. Credit to some of the players for dragging a result out of there. We need to do better.

  3. A gutsy performance with unfortunately some poor defensive mistakes. We are still not firing in all areas of the pitch , Kamara needs someone in beside him to takes the pressure off him. Aribo was our best man. Kent tries a little bit needs to be benched , Wright should get his chance. Onwards 56
