Rangers surely remain on the lookout for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman; the holding midfielder made his mark on the Dutch top flight since his switch from FC Volendam in 2019. Last season Veerman managed to bag himself 7 goals and 10 assists in the league and a further 4 goals and 2 assists in the Heerenveen cup run. Impressive return for a number 6.

With the season well underway, fans can keep themselves entertained with some sports-themed slot games, with world-renowned Aspers Casino, where you can find a detailed Aspers Casino Review provided by CasinoRange.

But Veerman recently hit out at his club’s valuation of him, which may discourage clubs from signing him; however, that didn’t stop him from assisting his club in their pre-season bounce match against fellow Eredivisie side Groningen.

With Italian side Verona pulling out of the running, it gave the Gers a clear run at signing the 22-year old and – speaking to This Is Futbol– former defender, Michael Ball, backed Ross Wilson to get the deal over the line:

“Heerenveen were probably hoping for a bigger European club to come in and pay that £10million valuation. But, with Covid, there are not many teams who can afford that for a prospect. I think the Rangers move is perfect for the player. If they can do that with a sell-on fee, I think they can get the move over the line.”

Veerman could be a significant piece of the puzzle in the Rangers squad in January and appears to be a player who could help Rangers a lot; this may change depending on the winter window and who we lose and who we keep.

Despite dominating the SPL and having a decent run in the Europa League last season, Steven Gerard doesn’t want them to let the high standards slip.

He said:

“We want the hunger and the mentality of the players to remain as it was at the beginning of last season. We were very focused coming back during the lockdown and started the league very strongly. Of course, we’re champions, but it’s important we park that up and reset and go in with the same mentality, and that’s full of hunger and ambition to make sure this season is a success as well.”

Rangers’ start hasn’t been the best but hopefully the club can turn it around.

  1. 11 goals and 12 assists doesn’t sound like a holding midfielder to me. I suspect we’ve already opted for Bacuna instead and Veerman’s not going to come.
