Filip Helander has become an injury doubt for Saturday after being mysteriously removed last night on 87 minutes for Markus Danielson.
The Swede, who didn’t have his best match in the yellow and blue after such an incredible night v Spain at the weekend, struggled to get involved, and didn’t manage a single clearance all evening as well as being booked for a pretty poor tackle as well.
Whether he was removed to avoid a second yellow or did indeed pick up a knock in the disappointing loss to Greece, Helander will be gutted to have had such a modest 90 minutes and given Danielson, his bizarre replacement at the Euros, a small opportunity in his place again.
Rangers, if it is an injury, have some slight issues with defence now, with potentially Patterson, Tavernier and Helander all missing out, meaning just Bassey, Simpson, Balogun, Barisic and Goldson could be fit for Saturday.
Thankfully, that gives us Balogun, Goldson, Simpson and Bassey as defence, against a side not exactly free-scoring this season. But it isn’t our best backline as things stand and naturally we hope all of Patterson, Tavernier and Helander are fighting fit for the weekend.
International football is a complete waste of time for us. All it seems to do is have our players fly all over the world to not get picked or they do get picked and come back injured. It happens far too often to us. I hate it!!!
