Rangers have been hit by a fresh injury blow after Steven Gerrard confirmed Fashion Sakala will not be available for tonight’s visit of Dunfermline after picking up an issue.

The Zambian, who hasn’t quite set the heather on fire just yet, has gained a tonne of respect for his attitude and work ethic, and while it may take time for him to click in the team, having his services at the team’s disposal gives added depth and competition up front.

But sadly that won’t be for the visit of the Pars after Gerrard revealed the 24-year old has a ‘niggling groin’ and won’t be risked tonight.

He joins Ryan Jack and Niko Katic on the sidelines, and while Rangers can welcome back Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe for the League Cup, nevertheless it’s a little frustrating the squad can never quite seem to be completely fit.

That said, we want to say we should have enough to overcome Dunfermline without Sakala, but with confidence as low as it is, all bets are off and we daren’t say one word about assuming a result or otherwise.

That equally said, Rangers SHOULD win this on grounds of desperation of bouncing back – it’s absolutely vital.

But they’ll have to do it without the Zambian’s energy.
