Rangers officially confirmed the final total raised by the recent share issue, and sadly while the number was decent at £4.5M, it fell almost 50% short of the original £7.5M target.

It is a financial injection, though, of some good numbers for the club to play with, in light of the UCL exit, and adds nicely to the £3.5M secured for UEL group stage, meaning Rangers have actually ended up with £8M in those areas at the end of all the totting up.

So while it didn’t quite make the predicted level, it’s still £8M our manager has to toy with, which is more than he had a few weeks ago.

Rangers fans are aware the club has invested heavily in improving the stadium and facilities, and keeps on doing it. As DoF Ross Wilson says, every time he comes in he looks at something else which requires overhauling.

But doing that requires revenue streams and while UCL was a colossal loss, nevertheless £8M isn’t to be sniffed at and will help.

There are also player investments, and of course the imminent £12M fee to be received for outgoing Borna Barisic, so all-in-all this means Rangers are £20M better off than they previously were.

It’s not the way we’d have wanted to secure that level of funding, but it’s still good numbers and puts us in a decent place.

So onwards and upwards.

  1. We are still in a position where we need to run a very tight ship so we never repeat mistakes from our past. Despite being short of the target the shares total is still very commendable in the Covid age and a huge profit on Barisic is testament to how the club is being run, holding firm on player valuations instead of selling for the first semi-decent bid. As champions our brand is more attractive to investors/sponsors, etc so our financial situation should only keep improving. I’d love see some reinvestment in the squad but at a price that doesn’t cripple us. I’m impressed the way we root out frees and lower fees like we have for Sakala and Wright. A real marquee signing would have been nice though.

  2. Need to be very careful here ? It’s all right to sell star players for the right price but it’s getting the correct replacements to replace these stars and to hit the ground running with the rest of our team players.

If we sell our best players and don’t end up winning the league then we have seriously shot ourselves in the foot by not getting into the champions league we don’t compete with the other big boys and end up losing out on millions of pounds big big bucks.

If Nathan Patterson is good enough for the first team how many other youngsters are as good as him in the B – Team we need the youngsters to be given that chance if you are young and have the necessary qualities and attitude to succeed at a big club like ours then give these lads that chance just look at how much Everton are willing to pay for Nathan and he’s only 19 years old.

That said the board and Manager deserve enormous credit for getting the club through to European football for 4 years in a row.

I would love to see the money for Barisic spent on Harry Wilson Doige and Veerman.
Brilliant result against the odds with McGregor Tavernier Patterson Jack Hagi Katic Bassey still to come back 2 week international break players rested and then ready to step up to the challenge of retaining the title.

One last word Kevin Clancy was terrible on Sunday McGregor had 6 blatant fouls in-front of him yet he chose not to book him ridiculous really because blatant consistent fouling over the 90 minutes and McGregor could and should have walked for an early bath.

Also the sporting integrity of the game when that lot chose not to throw the ball back to the Rangers players was a disgrace nothing was mentioned about that.

  3. Everyone who loves Rangers will be encouraged by the share issue , ok it’s short of the projection but at least it’s a financial injection. We will need much more let’s be brutally honest . We will need to sell at least two of our better assets for £10 million plus. Rangers needs real investment for the Team and also for the long term . It’s nice to have fan ownership yes, and I speak as a shareholder but we need an investor of the stature of Mr David King . Let’s see how the Transfer Dealings end up .
