So, back on the football, Rangers have probably our most important 2nd round League Cup clash in recent memory when Peter Grant’s Dunfermline arrive in Govan, hoping to get something from a very wounded animal indeed.
It’s Rangers’ chance to get a bit back on track following a truly awful past 8+ days with three consecutive losses killing off the CL and setting us back in the league as well, and so a mood lifter would be a welcome change for Steven Gerrard’s men, not to mention us fans.
What team should he select? Well, we’re going to present two teams – what we think he SHOULD select, in our worthless opinion, and what we think he WILL go with.
Should:
McLaughlin – that’s right, McGregor has been off his best like the rest, but McLaughlin has never let us down. He’s likely to get the nod anyway given it’s a cup match.
Defence:
Patterson, Helander, Katic, Bassey.
Yup, a total change at the back. Fresh, hungry, and with the club’s best defender in there too.
Midfield:
Kamara, Aribo, Kelly.
Yup, a glut of changes in here too. Kamara shoring it up, Kelly playmaking and dictating, and Aribo’s strength and dribbling.
Attack:
Wright, Itten, Roofe.
Wright has only given his all, Itten has been unceremoniously ditched, and Roofe will start anyway.
Ibrox Noise’s wished-for starting XI:
McLaughlin; Patterson, Helander, Katic, Bassey; Kamara, Kelly, Aribo; Wright, Itten, Roofe.
Bold, yes, but can’t do much worse than Stevie’s side are at present.
Unfortunately the manager announced there will be few changes tonight, so we’d imagine the team will look like this:
McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Bassey; Davis, Kamara, Aribo; Kent, Morelos, Roofe
We think a few alterations but not a tonne.
What do you think?
Much as I’d like send a rocket up those that are not delivering SG will only make minor changes . Agree Bassey and Roofe Hellander, not sure about Kelly . Hagi maybe to start . Lundstram may play I think . Morelos has to start . Wright yes please with Kent dropped , ready to move to Leeds £15 Million .
