There is no denying that Alfredo Morelos’ absence tonight in Sweden is going to be a gigantic blow for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

The impact Rangers’ star striker has on the side in the big matches especially can never be overrated with his tough frame and excellent hold up play, not to mention goals, such a fillip in these fixtures.

But Rangers will have to make do with either Cedric Itten or Fashion Sakala leading the line, and let’s be clear – Rangers are massively weakened for it.

However, all is not lost – Rangers travelled to Braga and got one of the biggest wins for years without Morelos, as Ryan Kent’s brilliant strike secured a last 16 spot v Bayer.

So it is possible for Rangers to get a big result without the Colombian. However, in Euro qualifiers, the only leg we’ve ever lost with him in the team was that infamous Niederkorn fiasco. So his name is a big absence.

Is it a game changer? It could be. Sakala is not yet settled and Itten is not yet proven where Morelos always does the business on nights like these.

It’s a big test for Rangers, to go into the biggest match of this club’s history for 10 years without our key talisman up front.

Morelos was born to play in matches like these, and Stevie will have to go some to prepare a side capable of getting a result in Sweden.

We’ll find out at 6PM if he did it.
