Rangers’ summer transfer window took a dramatic turn as Turkish and Romanian media pinned two £10M+ sales from Ibrox on Alfredo Morelos to Fenerbahce and Ianis Hagi to Galatasaray respectively.

Morelos, who’s been vulnerable to sale for years, lost out on CL and seeks that competition, so quite why the Turkish media think UEL hopefuls Fenerbahce would be an ideal destination we’re not so sure, but they hope to secure him for around £12M.

As for Hagi, he’s been linked to a glut of European sides for the past year, and after an impressive 2021 so far, the Romanian is attracting serious interest, with claims Rangers have rejected some bids for the former Genk man, and are seeking around €10M minimum for him.

Hagi has been a bright spot to Rangers’ season, despite barely featuring in the majority of matches through injury, and sacrificed his country’s Olympic campaign to play for Rangers in the qualifiers, but injury ruled him out of most of this season so far.

And Morelos, while indifferent domestically, came alive v Malmo, but could do little to prevent Rangers rightly crashing out of the qualifiers at the first hurdle.

Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are UEL sides who can’t offer either player much more than better wages and, in fairness, a better domestic league.

We’ll see if a £20M+ sum is incoming with their potential future exits.

  1. £22m for me would represent £16m for Morelos and £6m for Hagi which I think would be a good return for us. If we can squeeze another few million out of any deal then all the better. But I’m not sure it suits Morelos’ ambitions.
