£20M sale sheds new light on Rangers’ Morelos
Football - 2021 / 2022 UEFA Europa League - Qualifying - 1st Leg - Glasgow Rangers vs Alashkert - Ibrox Stadium Alfredo Morelos of Rangers scores the winner to make it 1-0 to Rangers PUBLICATIONxNOTxINxUK

Celtic’s sale of Edouard to Crystal Palace for a fee of around £20m gives some idea of exactly what Rangers should be seeking for Alfredo Morelos if the Colombian does end up leaving in the near future.

Celtic’s man, without a single goal in the Champions League and just two outings at that level, has never been called up to France, and has a solid 7 goals in 19 appearances in the UEL.

Morelos, on the other hand, can boast 11 goals in 24, with 9 assists. Edouard has just 2.

In short, there’s no doubt Rangers’ man is the superior striker. Regardless of any attitude about leaving Rangers, Morelos has always produced on the pitch, with last season being his most subdued yet still securing 17 goals in 44 plus a wonderful 13 assists. Edouard got 22 goals but just 6 assists in 40.

There’s no question Rangers’ number 9 is the best striker in the country, and Rangers cannot and will not settle for a penny less than £20M for him either should any suitors seek his signature in this or any other window.

Edouard hasn’t done it convincingly in Europe, hasn’t done it for his country at all, and his domestic tally is 65 in 116 while Morelos’ is 57 in 123. Morelos’ assists though – 24 in 123 and Edouard is 39 in 179.

So they’re mostly even domestically, but in Europe Morelos clearly has the edge.

And has never missed an open goal completely.

£20M for Edouard? We’d expect at least that for Alfie.
