Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed a new signing should be confirmed inside the next few days, after the boss spoke to RTV for the first major interview since the end of last season.

Rangers are moderately active in the transfer market, having already secured Nnamdi Odoforh and Fashion Sakala (the latter isn’t in Scotland yet), and most of the talk has been about outgoings, but there is some work being done on the other direction.

And Gerrard has confirmed while there won’t be ‘wholesale’ changes (there doesn’t need to be) the squad does need tinkering and a couple of upgrades to be ready for the Champions League.

And one of those appears to be imminent inside the next day or two.

Who is it?

Well, there’s talk again of John Lundstram and Lewis Ferguson, but Rangers are doing a very good job this summer of keeping incoming transfer talk very much in-house, so even the biggest ITKs don’t really know who’s coming in.

What we know is we need enhancements everywhere, but that we also have a healthy squad which could have effectively three new signings in Filip Helander, Ryan Jack and Niko Katic all available, which certainly helps.

But as for who the new man is? Nope, no idea. And good.

Well done to Rangers for keeping a lid on it.
