Developing stories last night suggest a dramatic summer of transfer action could be imminent at Ibrox with the sale of Glen Kamara to West Ham and the signing of Heerenveen’s Joey Veerman to replace him.
Kamara has been strongly linked with a sale down south, and West Ham are only one of up to a dozen PL sides said to be looking at the Fin – Rangers are not resigned to shipping him out, but are aware the ex-Dundee man only has two years left on his deal. The fee is said to be around £10M.
However, in a pseudo-swap deal, the interest in Dutch mid Veerman resurfaced after reports from Holland allege Rangers have submitted a £5M offer for the wantaway playmaker, following Italian side HV failing with a bid around €4.5M.
The Dutch side are said to want around €10M for their star man, but could be persuaded to let him go for less than that, likely with add-ons.
Which effectively means, all being told, Rangers could sell Kamara for the £10M-£15M mark and secure an outstanding replacement for just over a third of that.
Obviously we concede this scenario is slightly conjecture, but with West Ham’s bid reportedly being prepared and Rangers’ interest in Veerman apparently stepping up, we suspect the scenario of Kamara being sold and Veerman replacing him would keep pretty much everyone happy.
More as we get it.
