After all the hype about a move south to West Ham, Rangers’ Kai Kennedy has instead gone on loan to Dunfermline, taking a switch down the leagues in order to find football.

The 19-year old, who’s under contract till January 2023, was allegedly bid by the London Stadium side for a modest £600,000, but this was thrown out without consideration by Rangers who are said to rate the lad into the millions.

Of course, Kennedy has a bit of a reputation, and appears to be getting badly advised, especially given what it was claimed he said about West Ham’s supposed interest, and consequently he has probably burned his bridges for now with the club and Steven Gerrard.

As such, this move to the Pars gives Kennedy somewhere to develop and mature, but with 6 months left on his Rangers deal by the time this loan ends the chances of him making it at Ibrox as he’s turning 21 are modest.

There was also talk of him switching to another SPL club for a loan spell but this speculation dried up pretty quick.

Rangers do have still hopes for Kennedy but it just depends on whether the boy can keep proving his attitude at smaller clubs. He impressed at ICT and Raith but he needs to keep that up.

Time will tell on this.
