Vitesse defender Danilho Doekhi has confirmed that he is looking for his ‘dream club’ with Rangers still heavily in the picture for the 23 year old.
The experienced Eredivisie stopper, valued at £5M but available for a bargain £1.5M, has been long linked with a move to Ibrox, and his admission that he seeks the ideal transfer amidst Rangers’ interest could well be the green light for Stevie to make that move.
Doekhi would definitely be attracted to the CL and to Gerrard, just like the classy John Lundstram was, and that’s a major carrot to entice him with, along with his price being very economically viable, especially with his being in his final contract year.
The revelation that he’s definitely looking for a move out of Vitesse is surely the good news Rangers need to make the signing happen, and it’s worth bearing in mind that Connor Goldson still has not signed a new deal, Jack Simpson isn’t impressing anyone, and Leon Balogun’s fitness isn’t reliable.
Rangers only have the not-yet match fit Niko Katic and of course Filip Helander so a quality Dutch addition into the defensive pool would not be unwelcome.
Whether Rangers go for Doekhi is another matter.
