Yesterday we compiled a piece about just why we need more midfielders, despite some fans thinking otherwise.

We also need midfielders at least as good if not better than what we have.

We won’t lie, a Steven Davis, John Lundstram, Joe Aribo and Joey Veerman midfield would be absolutely stellar for next season, and we’ve already got three pieces of that in place.

And now the interest in Dutch maestro Veerman is serious – Rangers are putting together a package that could match the deal for Ryan Kent with a £7.5M offer for the Heerenveen man, who, after all the hooing and haaing looks like he’s getting close.

Verona put a €4M offer in, but the Dutch side want a lot more, closer to €10M, and Veerman was critical of that calling it ‘crazy’.

With Rangers now set to put in an initial £4.5M rising to £7.5M it pretty much nails the asking price and puts the Ibrox giants in pole position to secure easily Steven Gerrard’s best signing yet.

And yes, we said that about Lundstram but Veerman really is the next step.

Ibrox Noise was clear before this window opened – we had to up the ante with the calibre of player coming in order to be properly competitive in the CL. As good as our squad is, the CL is a whole new level, plus the desire to turn the SPL screw harder is significant too, so bringing in guys like Lundstram and potentially Veerman really is the upgrade Ibrox Noise preached to you.

It also confirms what we said about £30M spending this summer – many of you laughed, and mocked, but Lundstram at £10-£15M market value (for free) and now potentially Veerman at around £7.5M shows the calibre of player is hitting the £30M range of spending, even if some of them might not actually cost it.

We had to upgrade, and we cross every finger and toe that Veerman does arrive – he’s been a stellar link and if we can get him over the line, midfield suddenly looks at the standard Rangers need for making an impact on the next level.

  1. Could be the best bit of business that we do in getting this young lad to Ibrox seen his profile and watched tv footage of him looks the real deal and yet still only 22 years old with the best years still to come from him what a signing that would be let’s get him in now before the bigger teams take him from our grasps.

Also why not sell Hagi and bring in another exciting young talent Harry Wilson with the money we get from the sale of Hagi.

Also do a deal to get the Dundee United goalkeeper Ben Siegrest he is the best goalkeeper in the premier league and could take over from McGregor when he finally retires at the end of this year.

56 here we come Rangers till I die.
