Leeds are reported to be interested in Glen Kamara, amidst the Finnish star’s contract issues at Ibrox.
Their interest, initially revealed in April, has continued and the Elland Road giants are said to be monitoring his performances this summer, along with long-time admirers Arsenal.
These aren’t the only two clubs looking at the ex-Dundee man, and while the engine room man has kept himself to himself in recent months, the lack of announcement over a new deal does suggest his head has been firmly turned and he’s looking south.
Of course, we can’t know that – he rejected the initial offer on reasons we can only guess at, with some claims alleging the wage rise wouldn’t have been enough.
Unverified sites have his current salary at a modest £6000 a week, and if that’s true he’d certainly want more than 5 times that going forward, but either way interest from Arsenal and Leeds will certainly be tempting.
Some Rangers players do have a decision this summer – another SPL season but the carrot of the CL not to mention another winners’ medal next summer, or no European football but the ‘every week’ nature of the Promised Land of England’s marquee league.
That may be on Kamara’s mind but of course he’s under a contract till 2023 so Rangers can certainly hold out for a fair offer for him and are unlikely to accept much less than £15M.
A shot at the CL or guaranteed PL. That’s basically what it boils down to.
Time, as always….
