Rangers winger Jamie Murphy’s loan to Easter Road has now indeed been made permanent and the former Scotland cap is a full Hibs player.

The original loan did come with option/obligation to buy, and that has now gone through meaning the attacker will be able to face his old side next season.

He was one of a handful of fan-favourite players supporters were so eager to see given a chance, but the manager was never interested and to get football he went to League One then Hibs.

And of course the loan was a ‘try before you buy’ as Rangers did with Bongani Zungu, but the difference being Murphy impressed hugely at Easter Road and the deal was made permanent.

The fee is believed to be around £350,000 and is therefore a big purchase for Hibs, and while Murphy will rue the Killie pitch which destroyed his Rangers career, at least he can still play football and got his football career going again.

We wish him luck, but obviously not when he faces us.

  1. Murphy is a decent player but was never going to be good enough to go to the next level as SG desired from his squad to win 55 and beyond. He is technically very good and can bring others into the move/game. I wish him well .

  2. It’s a pity for Murphy that his Rangers career was cut short by that awful Kilmarnock pitch (good riddance Killie, don’t rush back unless you get a proper pitch). His numbers early doors were decent and he was denied the chance to get his Rangers career going. Good luck Jamie.
