Reports in Scandinavia claim Rangers are pursuing Norwegian international defensive midfielder Patrick Berg, in yet another central/defensive midfield link following the exit of Bongani Zungu and doubts over Glen Kamara’s future.

Rangers are pursuing a lot of new blood for the engine room, with Ryan Jack’s questionable reliability, and Steven Davis’ advancing years, not to mention the initial two mentions, there’s undeniable need to enforce the midfield with quality new and young additions.

23-years old, Berg, no relation to Henning, incidentally, does nevertheless come from a long line of Bergs who have played for their country as well as he, and the FK Bodø/Glimt man, who has never played for anyone else, is starting to gain attention on mainland Europe. Celtic are said to be monitoring him too.

Rangers are working hard to secure new signatures for next season, and while Berg’s CV is respectable, it’s not outstanding, so we’re sure if the club is really after this guy, there’s good reason for it.

Yet another day, yet another name….
