Rangers have been delivered a potential CL blow after Borna Barisic was ruled out of tonight’s Scotland Croatia match through the same injury that has curtailed his whole Euros.

While we can debate endlessly about the strange comments from national coach Zlatko Dalic which one minute suggested Barisic was ready to go and the next that he’d been injured the whole time, nevertheless if the left back is once again out of what could be Croatia’s final Euro 2020 fixture, he may well be a doubt for Rangers’ Champions League qualifiers.

The qualifying rounds begin today, at the preliminary round, and will continue weekly meaning Rangers’ entry should be early August, but these can be subject to change, so late July early August will be Rangers’ start point, and Barisic’s niggling injury has been with him since May.

Hopefully he will be completely recovered by the time Rangers’ kick off their long-awaited return to the CL, but niggling injuries can often be the worst.

Barisic is of course subject to links with Arsenal and Leeds at the moment, and admitted in his future he could be interested in any compelling offers, but for now is happy at Ibrox.

Naturally worth remembering if he plays the qualifying rounds, he won’t be cup tied for the group stage for another club, after a UEFA rule change, freeing him to help Rangers out even if he is to move on.

Another one to watch.
