Winger Carlos Mendes Gomes has rejected any talk of moving to Rangers at the moment on the basis of it being just a rumour, saying only that there’s no concrete talks in place.

The 22-year old, on fire this season with 16 goals for promoted Morecambe, is said to be interesting Rangers due to his qualities on the right wing, which is a problem position for Steven Gerrard.

But the winger denied there’s been any contact and the story is just a rumour for now.

Clearly the kid, like Rochdale’s (Now PL Watford’s) sensation Kwadwo Baah, is among the best League Two has and will find himself in a better club next season, but Morecambe as League One at least have something stronger to offer him.

But evidently Rangers are a much better draw.

Out of contract, he’d be a free signing, and with that problem slot prevalent at Ibrox, he’s one the club may well be looking at for next season.

If Baah is good enough for the PL, other League Two players are surely good enough for the SPL.

We’ll see if the rumour becomes more in time.
