This Rangers Dundee United spat is an intriguing one, and it’s easy to look at the headlines and assume Utd are the baddies here for trying to ‘disrupt’ Rangers’ preseason, but in reality we can actually understand their concerns.

We’re absolutely no fans of the Arabs, they’re a side with which we Rangers fans all know there’s a huge axe to grind after the various set to’s we’ve had with them in the past.

Stephen Thompson was a complete Rangers hater and did what he could to hurt and derail us, and it’s not like we’ll ever forget that, but at the same time, we’ve got bigger fish to fry and they’re nothing to us now.

And this new spat has nothing to do with them hating Rangers, and everything to do with it being their turf with which they have a long term contract and now Rangers want to come in and stomp all over that and encroach?

We actually see their point – the Portugal camp obviously got cancelled over Covid, and now Rangers are looking for something else.

Frankly, in truth, do we actually NEED a camp?

Rangers’ historic 6-month camps, especially the ones at winter, have done more to hinder the team than help them, and we’re not even that sure what good they do.

What harm in the players just doing their pre-season at Auchenhowie?

Do they need to swan off to another country or even somewhere else in the UK?

End of the day while there probably is a touch of pettiness from Utd, equally that is their place legally contracted and Rangers are trying to upstage them.

We’re not defending United, but we do think the headlines are making them out to be a lot worse about this than they maybe are entitled to be.

Bigger fish to fry this summer for Rangers than this.
