Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is said to have rejected Porto’s offer following a period of ‘consideration’ over it.
The 25-year old, who finally got his maiden bow at an international championship when he came on v Peru for Colombia, is subject to intense speculation this summer, as he was last, when he accepted Lille’s offer and all that remained was for the Ligue 1 giants to satisfy Rangers’ fee demands.
That did not transpire and the deal fell through.
But this summer, Porto, despite claims they’ve underbid for the striker, left a deal on the table with Morelos and information is the terms weren’t good enough and Morelos did not accept.
So it appears both the bid to the club and the terms to the player were both rejected which leaves the Porto saga dead in the water.
Morelos wants the PL, that’s his dream. His fantasy is a CL PL team but that’s extremely unlikely to happen, and he was briefly tempted by Porto given they’re definitely CL plus have a better league, but in reality it’s not really much, if any, of an upgrade. League wise, it’s a bit of a step up, but Portugal isn’t a lucrative league by any stretch and while better than the SPL it’s a long way off the PL.
So it appears Morelos’ search for the right move goes on.
More worrying is reports of Rangers being prepared to accept offers as low as £10m. I hope that’s not true.
