Alfredo Morelos was back on the bench last night as Colombia faced Peru in their latest Copa clash after being absent for Ecuador.

Atalanta’s Zapata and Junior’s Borja were both preferred as starters to Rangers’ man, subject himself to huge speculation over his future with major interest currently floating in from Porto.

The biggest story over the Porto interest is the allegation the Primeira Liga will be able to snap Morelos up for a modest £12M, but where this claim is sourced from we’re not sure.

Rangers are in a strong position to hold clubs to account and not pawn our crown jewels off for peanuts, and Morelos is widely regarded as one of Rangers’ most valuable assets.

But this £12M claim certainly contradicts that – Morelos, in this market, can clearly fetch Rangers almost double that, and Porto are no paupers – they can absolutely afford that, or Rangers don’t have to sell.

But like Morelos and the Lille interest in which the Colombian agreed terms, Rangers’ star striker is willing to negotiate a good deal for himself which would make the transfer possible if a fee can be agreed by Rangers.

As for Colombia, Morelos will be disappointed to be overlooked for a starting shirt, especially after his side lost to 10 men in the previous outing, plus the fact the manager plays with two forwards, which is rare in the game today.

Despite that he still can’t get a sacred start.

Que sera.
