Rangers have been lazily linked this morning with River Plate’s Santos Borre, international team mate of Alfredo Morelos, with the 4 cap striker, 25, getting more minutes at the Copa America than Rangers’ man.

Borre, with no goals yet for his country, is prolific in the modest standards of South America but struggled in Spain with Atletico Madrid getting just two goals in 17 appearances, so his experience in Europe isn’t overly promising.

At home the record fares a little better, but 22 in 62 isn’t exactly sensational in Argentina.

The story? Borre is out of contract in a couple of weeks, and is said to have a market value of £15M, so would be a supposedly lucrative Bosman for someone.

But the Rangers link seems to come from Morelos considering a move out, and Borre, his Colombian colleague, being available for nothing.

Plus the fact Ibrox Noise analysed Morelos’ team mates recently for their legitimacy at being picked before Alfie.

We’re not sure there’s much in this story beyond conjecture and clicks, but as your honest source of Rangers content and confab, it’s our duty to bring what we get to you.

Even if it sounds like piffle to us.
