Rangers winger Glenn Middleton has begged Steven Gerrard for another chance after he returned to Ibrox following his St Johnstone lan.

The 21-year old, who had a pretty modest time personally at Saints with 3 goals in 13 plus just one assist, came to the forefront of attention after securing not only a wonder goal for his loan club but a Scottish Cup winners’ medal too, so while his numbers were not incredible, he won silverware!

He’s pleaded with Stevie to ‘trust me’ and we must admit he was part of a brilliant St J side under Callum Davidson which worked miracles last season, but individually his stats weren’t that great.

Does he deserve another shot?

It barely matters – Stevie doesn’t give second chances to players he puts out on loan – the manager isn’t interested in you if you’re loaned out.

In 3 years, there’s never been an exception to that. And Middleton doesn’t strike us as being the first.

It’s one thing to do it for underdogs like St J, another to do it under the pressure of the Light Blue shirt.

And while the kid is likeable, Stevie clearly doesn’t trust him.

And we can’t see that changing.
