Alfredo Morelos to Porto as Colombian ‘considers’ Rangers exit
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 29: Alfredo Morelos of Rangers celebrates after scoring his team's first goal during the UEFA Europa League Group D stage match between Rangers and Lech Poznan at Ibrox Stadium on October 29, 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Alfredo Morelos story continues following agent Michael Gorman’s reported discussions with Porto chiefs over the past 48 hours and now the pair of them are said to be analysing the Dragao giants’ offer to decide if Portugal is a desired location for the Colombian star to go to.

Reports have claimed Rangers rejected an £8M offer from Cagliari, stories we’re not entirely convinced are true, but Morelos will certainly cost a suitor around £20M to prise from Ibrox, and the current negotiations with Porto will yield a bigger transfer fee than the alleged one from Serie A.

Morelos wants CL football, and while he gets the qualifiers with Rangers, Porto not only made the latter stages last season, but are secured in the groups already without having to negotiate earlier rounds.

As a destination they probably fit his needs, and there is of course something else:

Language.

Morelos will find any Spanish/Portuguese-speaking nation appealing, given it’s his mother tongue, and we all know he’s been hankering for a move to a better league for some time – Portugal is certainly a better league, even if it’s not his Promised Land of the PL.

Will he accept that offer? He accepted Lille. We doubt he’ll reject Porto.

More as it develops.

  1. Still can’t see this one happening. Think his eyes are on the big 5 leagues and as much as Porto is a step up in league level it’s still not the level he wants to prove himself at. Still, money talks and if someone is willing to pay the £20million plus add ons then he’ll have a big decision to make.
