“£100M for Harry Kane?” – Porto can pay up or shut up

After Tottenham rejected £100M for Harry Kane and Aston Villa valued Jack Grealish at the same amount, it’s time to end this nonsense some fans have come out with over Covid reducing player values.

A lot of Rangers supporters are seeing the £11M Porto are alleged to be offering for Alfredo Morelos as par for the course in this Covid era, an era of devaluing players, apparently.

And yet for Spurs to reject £100M and Villa to expect that amount for their star man while Borussia Dortmund work on an £80M deal for young Sancho, it’s evident prices have not gone down.

Not at all.

The days of the crazy £200M for the likes of Neymar might not be prevalent, simply because Neymar wasn’t worth that, in exactly the way Juve got a bargain getting Ronaldo for £120M.

No, the football market, against all odds, is as nuts as it always was, and if Rangers accept just £11M for Morelos it’s a slap in the face to fans who expect Steven Gerrard’s word about ‘new prices’ to ring true.

We know Glen Kamara’s value skyrocketed during the Euros, Porto can do one if they think they can get Morelos for the same as Celtic sold an unwanted Frimpong for.

We expect hardball here, 100%. If Porto don’t stump up at least £20M, Morelos doesn’t go.

He’s contracted for a good two more years, and Rangers can make use of that.

Pay up or shut up.
