Steven Gerrard has followed up Rangers incredible title party by evading questions about his future and admitting he’s had to sacrifice a lot with his family to achieve what he has.

The glorious Rangers manager, buoyant from a wonderful season at Ibrox this campaign, got drenched by Alfredo Morelos with Champagne as well he should, but then after the match told the waiting media this wasn’t about him, but about Rangers.

He said:

“It’s not about me right now. It’s about the club and what is next. You cannot stand still here. We will go again and try to build on this success. I’m happy here. I have had to make a lot of sacrifices family wise but I want more. I am determined to build on this.”

This is reassuring, if hinting this can’t last forever.

Rangers fans have every right to enjoy their day, as Stevie and the players do and will, but work for next season is already underway and after today, it is all about 56 and the UCL.

Gerrard wants more, and he wants it with us – he clearly wants to defend the title, and he wants a crack at the UCL with this club – but he will not stay forever, and this is the first time he’s really admitted what moving to Rangers has cost him personally.

He’s not the first to do that, and he won’t be the last, but Rangers are in a truly stunning place right now, majorly thanks to Stevie, and we will cherish each moment we get from this manager.
