Steven Gerrard’s comments in the aftermath of 55 ‘confirm’ the Rangers boss is staying for at least another season.

As the longest-serving manager in the SPL, Gerrard has worked miracles, but for many fans this campaign felt like his first due to the seismic change in Scottish football over the past 12 months.

And that sense extends to the notion that our manager is only getting started.

But of course he’s been north now for 36 months, and the first 24 were very much a mixed bag – it’s the recent 12 (or to be more accurate, 8 or 9) that have been so stellar, and felt like a bit of a reset.

And we sure don’t want to see our manager walk away.

He’s admitted he’s made big family sacrifices the past few years, and it’s not always been easy, but Gerrard really has given Rangers everything and has confirmed he wants more and he’s ready to begin again.

In truth, Steven Gerrard has not explicitly actually said he absolutely 100% is staying for next season, stopping just short of it, but the truth is he has to avoid such statements of certainty because life isn’t guaranteed.

But saying he’s happy and we go again in the summer is good enough for us.

The sky is the limit with this manager and we will treasure him as long as we have him.
