Rangers today confirmed what we told you some days ago, that the signing of Fashion Sakala was done and dusted.
What has emerged however is why the Zambian did NOT make his reveal post-match as planned.
Sakala, you’ll recall, announced he’d reveal of his next club after the match on Saturday, but of course did not, and we were left guessing as to when he would.
It turned out Sakala kept it to himself in order to honour Rangers’ social media ban this weekend, and to avoid stealing the club’s thunder on Tuesday when the official announcement was made.
Indeed, Sakala is now confirmed a Rangers player for next season, and seems more than happy about having his ‘dreams come true’ playing for a club of Rangers’ size.
And he was doing everything in his power to show respect, and despite his pre-match statement that he’d say his next club on Sunday evening, the 24-year old was told not to, in order to be faithful to Rangers’ fight against online abuse, and to give the club the stage to give the big reveal today.
Sakala already seems like a glorious team player, and indeed in his interview, for him it’s all about the men around him.
He’s not interested in his own glory, and he’s absolutely thrilled to be at a club of the size and stature of Rangers – easily the biggest club he’s ever been at, and he strikes us as someone who will work his socks off to make the best of his big move.
Welcome to Rangers Fashion.
