After a week-long blitz of negative stories, where we had ‘mob’, ‘riot’, ‘violence’, and ‘bigots’ thrown at us, and hard hitting headlines that say the entire Rangers team should be forced to resign and Glasgow churches were subjected to anti-Catholic abuse, we now find – nothing.

After a police investigation ruled there was no reason to prosecute Rangers, and it now seems the video evidence was fabricated, and perhaps other attacks were as well.

But do we get an apology?

F*** no.

All we get are benign headlines such as these

“Rangers launch proceedings against certain individuals”….Not ‘Rangers were vindicated and did nothing wrong’

“Brian Matthews’ Rangers bar targeted with Celtic graffiti” …and not ‘Evil Celtic thugs attack innocent Rangers Bar’

“No criminality in video of Rangers players after title win” … and not ‘Rangers players had their good name unfairly tarnished by the press’.

And then we still have attacks coming in from all directions, including:

‘Poisonous’ fans scaring off sponsors at …which is a very clear attempt, by the author of this hit piece, to slam Rangers squarely in the wallet.

Then it hit me…

All the haters, and all these attacks on Rangers are being made by people who still think we are living in the 1970s!

For god’s sake….

While we have been down in the lower leagues, making friends with almost every single team on our way up, and giving many teams bumper paydays, in the Premiership absolutely nothing has changed.

While Rangers have been pulling as an entire team, and purging our team of those who were only interested in using us as their own person piggy-bank, and creating an environment where we now happily accepting everyone and anyone into the Rangers’ tent, the vile press in Scotland is still run by the exact same crew who always hated Rangers’ guts, while on the streets we had Celtic thugs throwing glass bottles at kids.

While Rangers fans and players have been donating their hard-earned cash to countless charities, the press refused to see that, and just cannot see that Rangers are now a team filled with amazing players, whose only common link is not their religion, but their burning desire to become the very best team in Europe.

They also ignore the fact that many Rangers players routinely cross themselves before entering the pitch.

In fact, none of us care about what the religious beliefs are of anyone at Glasgow Rangers and that is exactly how it should be.

But they ignore all that and they stubbornly cling to that ancient past, because that is all they have.

No, the bigots are those who just cannot see Glasgow Rangers for what we are, a team that is for everyone, and anyone.

The true thugs are those in the press, who use their considerable power to demean and tarnish the reputation of others, with no need for evidence to back up their claims.

The true riot was the press combining together to attack Rangers for 7 days straight, with no remorse for all the damage they did. It’s still going today.

And those who were derelict in their duty were not the Rangers hierarchy, but those in Government, who complained about the mess made in the streets of Glasgow, were fully aware that the fans would come out to celebrate, and ignored Rangers’ call to open the doors for the fans.

Yep, they did what they all set out to do. They successfully tarnished Rangers’ big day.

But in the end, we are the victors.

Because we know who we are, and history will look back and see those in the press for what they are, the ones who are bigots. They are the ones with closed-minds, who cannot understand the world around them has changed.

Rangers are truly a club for everyone and anyone, and we will not let anyone ever tarnish our good name.
