Rangers have been linked, again, with a summer interest in SC Farense and former Hibs and Utd man Ryan Gauld.

The £3.5M-rated AM has been in spectacular form for the Portuguese strugglers this season with an excellent 9 goals and 7 assists in 33 league appearances for a side who sit second bottom of Primeira Liga, and out of contract this summer the 25-year old is said to have ‘dozens’ of offers as a pretty lucrative Bosman.

With insistent rumours linking Ianis Hagi with a move out, and Scott Arfield’s increasing fitness issues, Steven Gerrard would be wise to have another AM in there aside the outstanding Joe Aribo, and Gauld, as an on form candidate, may just fit the bill.

Naturally as a Bosman he’d be a free agent and wouldn’t cost his market value, making him the kind of signing Stevie loves – marquee and free.

Plenty of Rangers’ best players have been signed in this manner – McGregor, Davis, Jack, and of course Defoe not to mention Arfield, so it’s a route this club excels in.

Whether Gauld is to be the next Bosman addition we shall see, but the attacker is certainly of a high standard and could be a very wise signing.

Our only surprise is Steve Clarke wasn’t interested…

  1. Gauld was a really good prospect at Dundee It’s who lost his way a little . He can definitely play . Not sure about his physicality for our over physical game. Also not sure if he would improve our squad. If we can get a cheap deal then perhaps worth a punt..
