Borna Barisic has today confirmed he’s absolutely thrilled with life at Rangers, and has no intention of leaving, but cannot categorically rule out a move away if a big league side was to come in.

The Croat, such a stellar performer the past two seasons in particular, has shone in his role at Ibrox as the league’s star left back, but talking today admitted while he ‘couldn’t necessarily say no’ to a French, German, Spanish, English or Italian side coming in for him, it’s not something he’s seeking and he’s happy at Ibrox.

It’s sensible talk from a player who clearly appreciates the platform Rangers have given him, the massive showcase he’s enjoyed at Ibrox with the Old Firm matches and European nights, but is not so short-sighted as to say something that will make him look foolish and hypocritical later.

Barisic is being honest, and we like that, and honesty only when pressed. The former Osijek was much more interested in appreciating Rangers, Steven Gerrard and the ‘unique’ club he finds himself at.

It was only when pushed on the topic that the Croatia international, who will represent his country this summer, admitted he couldn’t rule out a move to a big league, but still continued to be at pains to say how happy he was at Ibrox.

It’s smart talk – committing emotionally to Rangers, extolling our virtues, but being honest to say if a big league side came in, that would be interesting to him.

Of course, if Rangers were in a big league, it would be a non-issue, no player would want to leave Rangers at all.

But we’re in the SPL, which hamstrings us considerably.

Hopefully we get a few more seasons out of our LB star.

  1. The guy is a class act both on and off the field, all Croatian players that have worn the blue love the Famous. I wish him the very best for the Euros I think it will draw even more attention to him and his wonderful left foot . I hope he stays one more season at least but whatever he and the club decide is fine by me .
