7 Rangers players have no Ibrox future
These two won;'t make the cut.....

As we mentioned earlier, Jordan Jones has formally returned to Rangers after a middling to decent spell in League One, if not an earth-shattering one.

But his return sees a domino effect of a glut of our players now coming back from pastures new having missed 55.

Jones, Ross McCrorie, Jamie Murphy, George Edmundson, Glenn Middleton, Jake Hastie and Brandon Barker to name all 7 players will be coming back to Govan, some determined to give Rangers their best shot, others knowing they have no chance.

The Ross McCrorie situation is of course unique – he will be permanently joining Aberdeen this summer in an obligated purchase, so that one is a done deal, but the others aren’t.

And it remains to be seen if any of them get anything like second chances at Ibrox under this manager.

The rule of thumb under Stevie has been any player going out on loan simply isn’t in the boss’s thinking – there’s been no exception to this in the 3 years Gerrard’s been here, and we can’t see that changing.

No player that we can recall has gone out on loan under SG and come back to become a mainstay in his team. Indeed that rarely happens at all at Ibrox, with the last notable exceptions being Charlie Adam and Allan McGregor.

So unfortunately for all of the guys who went on loan, there is a lower than 5% chance any of them are now in Stevie’s thinking.

It’s even worse for them this summer because if they were rejected last summer when our standards were a bit lower, how will it be now with the incredible standards we have today and the imminent CL participation?

No, an exodus either of loans or mutual consents seems inevitable this summer – Gerrard is unlikely to give any of these guys reprieves regardless of how well they did on their loans.

And that ruthlessness brought us 55 so who are we to disagree?
